Making making self defense a critical skill at our Noor Girls High School

Girls in West Champaran have a 70% higher chance of being assaulted on their way to school than anywhere else in India — making self defense a critical skill. On our students’ trip to Delhi, they stepped out of the classroom and onto tumbling mats where they learned Wenlido – a practical, effective self defense course for women.

Although we recognize it takes more than a week to learn applicable skills, our goal was to get the girls comfortable with standing up for themselves and raising their voices.
